Beat the Winter Blues at Heritage Shores

Last night we joined friends for a Cowboy Inspired Buffet and Live Entertainment provided by the Jr. Wilson Band at Heritage Shores. Linda Chick, one of our Agents, and her husband Jack live at Heritage Shores after moving here from Maryland 9 months ago. They are accomplished “hand dancers”. It’s very similar to the West Coast Swing or the Shag (beach dancing) I discovered as Jack taught me a few steps. Debbie Shearer, another transplant from Maryland, and her husband Joe, also live at Heritage Shores. When Debbie finishes some Delaware real estate training, she too will be joining Active Adults Realty.

We had a great time and I was really impressed with the band. These guys were good and their repertoire went from country to the Beatles. Take a look -

Bring your golf cart to Heritage Shores

Great news! Golf carts are now allowed for use around the community! You have no idea how many of our clients have asked if they could bring their golf carts with them when they retire to Heritage Shores, Delaware’s Best Master Planned Community. A lot of those people are calling from The Villages or thought about retiring to Florida at one time.

Heritage Shores is the only active adult community in Delaware with its own Championship 18-hole Golf Course and now you can have your own golf cart! I wonder how the residents will customize their golf carts? We’ll look forward to bringing you photos as the new carts are spotted.

Patriot Day Event at Heritage Shores, Bridgeville, DE

On Sunday, September 11th several hundred residents were privileged to attend a moving event at the clubhouse to recognize the residents that served in the military. Also included were the police, firemen/women and other service members that serve in Bridgeville. A very informative slide show was presented along with a great singing group that sang patriotic songs and a bagpiper that played taps. It was a very moving presentation and there were very few dry eyes in the room.

The Beach Bumz come to Heritage Shores

The Heritage Shores Community recently hosted an outdoor concert at the clubhouse. Music was provided by “The Beach Bumz”. Residents and guests danced to the songs of Jimmy Buffet and the Beach Boys. It was a beautiful evening and the weather cooperated with a nice breeze. The limbo contest created a lot of laughs and some of the age 55+ participants were amazing. A good time was had by all.

How’s the market at Heritage Shores?

There’s only one way to prove that the market has improved and that is with actual sales data. I know how busy we have been all year long and I know that we have sold several of the resale homes that been on the market at Heritage Shores. Well, here is the rest of the story:

4 Resale Homes have already sold and settled in 2011 and 3 more are Under Contract.

Providence Homes has at least 4 homes in construction now and at least one that is Under Contract (our clients). New home sales are once again surging at Heritage Shores and it’s all good.

From just our personal experience, the tide has definitely turned in this community. Two of our own listings are now under contract with our buyers:

132 Widgeon Way, a single family home on a golf course lot was listed for $319,000 and it will settle this month.
52 Whistling Duck, an attached home on a golf course lot was listed for $199,000 and it will settle this month

In addition, our buyer clients have bought the single family home at 5 Canvasback which sold for $345,000 in February, 2011. The property at 68 Emily’s Pintail is now under contract with our buyers and is scheduled to settle on October 7th.

In real estate we always say that a good property priced right for the market will sell. I think the numbers demonstrate the truth in that old adage!

Screening Event at Heritage Shores

On July 21st, Heritage Shores hosted a Skin Analysis. Nanticoke Health Services used a sophisticated machine that combines black-light blue lightening with magnification for analyzing skin conditions. The Skin Analysis Machine (SAM) discovers conditions not visible to the naked eye, such as blemishes, congestion under the skin, dehydration and degeneration of the skin. The technician stressed the importance of using sun screen and visiting a dermatologist on a regular basis. Many residents who took advantage of this screening were very happy to have Nanticoke Health Services make this available to Heritage Shores residents.

Box Wine Party at Heritage Shores

There was music and dancing and Box Wine Tasting on Friday evening, July 15th at the Heritage Shores Club. The Band was MPSteel, a Steel Drum Duo, and it looks like a good time was had by all!

Heritage Shores makes the top 50!

Only one active adult community in Delaware made the Short List of “Best Master-Planned Communities in the United States” – Heritage Shores in Bridgeville. The Short List focuses on 50 communities that they describe as “amenity-rich, with clubhouses, recreation and activities to keep residents fully engaged.”

The author, Van Sheridan, gives the following advice – While researching communities to live out your retirement dream, consider following the example of Hank Morris, 80, who retired to Heritage Shores in Delaware not on “promises of things to come, but on amenities already in place at the community.” I heartily agree with that advice. Betting on the come gets more difficult the older we become. When making a decision about how and where you want to live for the rest of your life, there is no room for uncertainty.
